Geography of Fruit

In this unit, students learned about the diversity of fruit species across different climate zones. They were required to research fruit that were grown in temperate, arid and semi-arid, humid continental and sub-arctic climate zones, and bring them to the class to share! Students also investigated the working and living conditions of the workers behind the agricultural production.  Students also read and analyzed documents on the Mexican labor laws regarding the inspection of child laborers, as a source analyses activity. Finally, students were to create realistic solutions for improving workers' rights and eliminating child labor as part of the assessment of learning. This unit ties in physical geography, climatology, sociology, economy and civics all in one!
